Q COMS 20 ON CAMPUS (WED., Feb. 26 beginning @ 9:15am) PRESENTATION #1 PROBLEM-SOLUTION SPEECH ALSO, ON CAMPUS CLASS ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS CLASS SESSION IN ORDER TO PRESENT YOUR PROBLEM-SOLUTION SPEECH. PLEASE NOTE: Professor will post your speech grade here. Please post/upload your FCO project in the FCO assignment. Thank you. 1. PROBLEM/SOLUTION (P/S) ORAL PRESENTATION: Overview – Select a problem that you know about and develop at least three (3) solutions to solve the problem. The problem you choose could be a problem in the community, at school, or at work. Please check with me (email is fine) to be sure that the problem selected fulfills the project parameters. For example, if you are on a team at work and facing a work related problem, then that would be appropriate. Perhaps the team is seeking to solve a customer service problem/issue. 2. Your oral presentation will cover the following areas: 1. 1st: Describe the problem in sufficient detail for the listeners to understand. 2. 2nd: provide 3 possible solutions to the problem you have described in the 1st part of your presentation. Review each solution in detail, note positives and negatives (advantages/disadvantages) of each solution. 3. 3rd: Next, choose the solution that you believe is the best (optimum) of the three solutions you reviewed. 4. 4th: In this part of your presentation, you will be answering the “Why?” question. In other words, why did you select the solution you did? Provide several reasons why you chose the particular solution you did. Be sure to use examples, statistics, expert opinion, or other evidence and proof to support the solution you believe in the best one to solve the problem. 5. 5th: What would happen if your solution was implemented or applied to the problem? Provide some idea of what you think might happen if your solution were put into operation or practiced. Have an introduction and a conclusion section to your speech. Use the model of the full-content outline handed out and reviewed thoroughly in class for developing your PROBLEM/SOLUTION outline for your oral presentation. Your full-content outline is to be 2-pages in length and turned in separately for evaluation and grading. You may use a copy of your outline in making your presentation. Your problem-solution oral presentation will 4 to 5 minutes in length. The Problem\Solution presentation is worth 100 points available. PLEASE NOTE: YOUR INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATION (IN CLASS) SCORE WILL BE POSTED AT THE END OF THE PRESENTATIONS. EACH PRESENTER WILL RECEIVE A HARD-COPY FEEDBACK FORM WITH GRADE FROM THE PROFESSOR AT THE CONCLUSION OF OUR ON-CAMPUS CLASS SESSION. ATTENDANCE FOR ALL 5 ON CAMPUS CLASS SESSIONS IS REQUIRED.
